A noted poet and lyricist Na. Muthukumar was a famous poet, lyricist, and author. Best known for his contribution in Tamil language film, he wrote more than 1000 lyrics in various movies and also penned novel Silk City in Tamil. During his lifetime he won many prestigious awards.
Born on 12 July 1975 Na. Muthukumar was native of Kancheepuram. A voracious reader he entered the film industry with a dream of becoming a director and assisted worked as an associate for Balumahendra for four years. He for the first time penned down lyrics for the film Veera Nadai, directed by Seeman. Thenafter he was tasked to write dialogue for films like Kireedam (2007) and Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). In his long illustrious career he wrote around 1,000 songs. He holds a special record for penning 103 songs in 2012.Two of his songs “Aanandha Yazhai Meetugiraai” (from “Thanga Meengal”) and “Azhage Azhage” (from “Saivam”) fetched him National Awards.

Illness and Death
A pall of gloom descended on the roads of Chennai after hearing the death Na. Muthukumar. Suffering from high fever and jaundice, Muthukumar died on August 14, 2016. He was 41 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. People on Twitter mourned the demise of the lyricist.
